  Biology: Chemical tools to study protein phosphatases\n\n\n\nProtein phos
 phatases are enzymes that remove phosphate groups from proteins and play k
 ey roles in essential cellular processes. Their dysregulation contributes 
 to diseases such as cancer\, immune diseases\, and heart failure. Accordin
 gly\, there is a great interest to study their mechanisms\, substra-tes an
 d druggability\, as well as to validate them as disease targets. Our work 
 focuses on specific phosphatases that drive the study of biological proces
 ses and the development of chemical tools. As research tools to enable stu
 dying and targeting these challenging enzymes we develop peptides\, peptid
 omimetics\, peptide libraries\, bifunctional molecules\, and also small mo
 lecules. Using these tools\, we study phosphatases on the molecular and ce
 llular level\, and we also devise phosphopro-teomic strategies to provide 
 insights into their substrates and affected pathways.
