On this page you will find information about different options of how to study abroad. In order to get an acknowledgement of the achievements of your studies abroad, it is advisable to reach appropriate agreements before leaving for your stay abroad.
Erasmus+
Erasmus: details for outgoings
Here you will find information about the options and the organization of an Erasmus-funded stay abroad. General information about the Erasmus+ program for Outgoings is available at the web page of the International Office.
Students of the Bachelor's programm should have passed the introductory modules as well as some advanced modules. The stay abroad should preferably be scheduled for the 5th or 6th semester.
Within the Master's program, a stay abroad is possible in every semester. However, it is recommended for the 3rd semester (after having passed all mandatory modules).
Contact the Erasmus Coordinator by sending all the required documents to ala.bunescu@uni-bonn-de before the following deadlines
- short CV (in Englisch) with photo
- Motivation letter (in English, 1-2 pages): Why do you want to study at the selected parter universities?
- Transcript of Records (applicants of the Master's program: also of their Bachelor's studies)
Deadlines:
for the winter semester 2026/27: 1 Oktober 2025
for the summer semester 2027: 1 May 2026
Please note: Only complete applications containing all necessary documents can be considered.
After evaluation and selection of the applicants by the Erasmus Coordinator the submission of the application documents takes place via the Mobility-Online-Portal. Detailed instructions can be found here.
Deadlines for the submission of the application in the Mobility-Online-Portal:
for the winter semester 2026/27: 15 January 2026
for das summer semester 2027: 15 August 2026
- adequate language skills in the language of teaching
- academic achievements
- comprehensible motivation for the selection of the host university

Before leaving for an Erasmus-funded stay abroad, a learning agreement has to be made with the Erasmus Coordinator. This ensures that the student takes courses at the partner university that are appropriate to his/her current level of knowledge, and that these courses are acknowledged when coming back to Bonn.

Applications are submitted to your home university. Please find out about the procedure practiced there.
Erasmus students may study in modules of the Bachelor's program as well as in modules of the Master's program. An agreement with the Erasmus Coordinator of their home university is necessary. The language of education is German in all modules of the Bachelor's program, English in all modules of the Master's program.
