Inhalt:

In transition metal chemistry most ligands play an innocent role, just tuning the metal to perform the desired task, but non-innocent N-, O- and S-ligands are significantly in-volved in the mechanism. In contrast, the knowledge is scarce on non-innocent P-lig-ands and/or P-ligand-centered formation of a radical site. Since 2012 our group is working on the reactivity of transient phosphanoxyl complexes and the tuning of the spin density distribution (sdd) in group 6 and 7 metal complexes; these radicals al-lowed for heterocoupling and can initiate radical polymerisations.
This talk will present the chemistry of phosphanoxyl iron complexes, especially the ef-fect of P-sub-stituents on sdd’s, including additional theoretical studies on complexes having different α-atoms E instead of oxygen. This is complemented by a recent ex-perimental study on compounds having an isolobal replacement of MLn by an NHC unit, i.e., phosphanoxyl adducts.
