Scientific career
Jost completed his Bachelor's degree at the University of Bonn in 2022 in the research group of Prof. Barbara Kirchner. His undergraduate research focused on density functional theory studies of the pressure-dependent absorption of carbon dioxide in ionic liquids.
In 2025, he completed his Master's degree in the research group of Prof. Nikolay Kornienko, where he investigated the metal–molecule synergy in copper-based systems for enhancing the electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction to ammonia.
Since August 2025, Jost has been a PhD candidate in Prof. Kornienko's lab, where his research focuses on the development and mechanistic understanding of electrocatalytic systems for small-molecule activation.
