Marianne studied Chemistry and Mathematics at the Universities of Heidelberg, Germany, and Pavia, Italy. She graduated with a thesis on mechanistic aspects of CH activation with Iridium(I) under the supervision of Peter Hofmann. She moved to the Technical University of Berlin for her PhD on selective oxidation of alkanes by vanadium oxides in the group of Helmut Schwarz. She then discovered the fascinating world of supramolecular chemistry in Bonn while working with Christoph Schalley. Since 2005, she is head of the mass spectrometry facility of the Chemical Institutes in Bonn. Her current research combines chemical synthesis and modern mass spectrometry for a particular powerful means to investigate reaction mechanisms. Marianne enjoys music, dancing, sailing and family time with her two children.

Interested students are welcome to get to know us and our research as student helpers or during a laboratory internship or a bachelor's or master's thesis.

There are still plenty of spectra waiting to finally be measured!
