Angewandte paper from AK Lu is online
The paper on "Dual Activation of H2 and CO2 by a Pincer-type Ni–Zn Heterobimetallic Complex" is online at Angewandte Chemie. This work investigates the role of Zn(II) as a Lewis acid partner to Ni(0) in its reactivity with small molecules. The important finding is that after H2 activation, the resulting Ni dihydride is sufficiently hydridic to insert CO2. Zn(II) is used as a weak Lewis acid that allows bridging ligands to access terminal binding.
The work was led by the Lu group in collaboration with Dr. Gregor Schnakenburg, who is a co-corresponding author. Congratulations to the first author Krishnendu Dey and undergraduate Matthias Borowski!
