Born in the Rhineland, studied in Bonn and remained at the University. I did my diploma and PhD research in Martin Jansen's group on ionic ozonides. Then added solid state chemistry with electron microscopy and now I am looking forward to new challenges in inorganic chemistry. Teaching students in lectures, seminars and especially in practical lab courses is an enrichment in my job - administrative tasks are a necessary evil. Besides university, there is the family, racing bikes and more guitars than time to play them regularly.

Ph.D. Chemistry, 2022 IIT Bombay

M.Sci. Chemistry, IIT Bhubaneswar

Chemistry always appealed to me from the school level mainly because of its ubiquitous nature, and by the time I was in the 12th Standard, I had become so passionate about it that I decided that I would find peace only if I pursued a career in chemistry. I have received my Bachelor degree from Vidyasagar University (2010-2013) and Master degree (2014-2016) from IIT Bhubaneswar with major in chemistry. My master-project was based on “Syntheses and Characterization of Bipyridine-hydrazone Based Mixed-valent [Fe(II)2Fe(III)2] and Bi- valent [Fe(II)4], [2×2] Grids and their Applications”. I then joined IIT Bombay in 2016 to pursue my Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Prof. G. K. Lahiri. My research work primarily focusses on reactivity and electronic structural aspects of dinuclear/polynuclear ruthenium complexes/clusters with selective redox-active ligands. It was a rewarding experience during these years cause though the area of research was directly related to my field of interest, I understood how essentially one should design one's research experiments, and the utility of different spectroscopic techniques in the characterization of molecules. Currently I have joined as a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Lu at the University of Bonn and I believe that it would provide me with the ideal platform and exposure for helping me realise my dreams. Apart from research work I am very passionate about sports like football, cricket etc. If you cannot find me in the lab, I am probably getting recharged with some quality sleep.

Mein Master-Projekt basierte auf „Syntheses and Characterization of Bipyridine-hydrazon Based Mixed-valent [Fe(II)2Fe(III)2] and Bivalent [Fe(II)4], [2×2] Grids and their Anwendungen“.

Since I've been interested in chemistry since school, I decided to study chemistry in Bonn. Not knowing at first which field suits me the most, I became very interested in inorganic molecular chemistry in later semesters. Therefore, I decided to write my bachelor thesis in Prof. Streubel's group, where I dealt with the synthesis of dichloro(organo)phosphanes, their complexation and the question of intramolecular donor interactions. At the end of my bachelor’s thesis and especially at the beginning of my master’s studies, I found metal complexes increasingly fascinating and am now looking forward to working on organobimetallic complexes in Prof. Lu’s group.

My interests besides chemistry are cooking, gaming and spending time with my family.

I carried out my bachelor studies at the university of bonn, joining the group of prof. A. C. Filippou for my thesis. While working in the group i explored the reactivity of a digermyne towards late row trasition metal complexes, which made me fall in love with inorganic chemistry. To gather new experiences, i decided to join the Lu lab for my master thesis, where i will attempt to develop a bimetallic nickel-boron catalyst.
I generally get very excited about anything related to food, so i spend a lot of my spare time cooking and baking. I especially enjoy trying out new recipies and different types of food from all over the world.

Originally from northern Germany, I studied chemistry in Göttingen and received my bachelor’s degree after researching group 13 heterocycles in the group of Prof. Christian Sindlinger. For my master thesis I jumped across the periodic table and joined the group of Dr. Lisa Vondung where my research focused on uranium complexes featuring hemilabile ligands for potential applications in catalysis. After finishing my master's degree, I joined the Lu lab for my PhD in early 2023 to explore group 13 assisted cobalt catalysis.
If I’m not at the glovebox you probably find me either at the archery range, the bouldering hall or playing board/video games.

I fell in love with the nature science in the school and everything continued at the University of Sofia where I studied Physics. The life let me to the beautiful Germany, where I had the chance to complete my training as a Technical assistant in the workgroup of  Prof. Glaum at the University of Bonn.

After a few years of exploring the crystal structures of the transition metals I got the grade opportunity to work in the group of Prof.Lu at the University of Bonn, where I can deepen my knowledge of the transition Metals also to develop my skills at the analytical field and more precisely at the elemental analysis.

I love to spend my free time with my daughter, by organizing small trips, enjoying the local cuisines and the  warm atmosphere of Europe.

I began my bachelor studies in 2017 at the University of Bonn and completed it in 2020 with my bachelor thesis in the workgroup of Prof. Kubitscheck. The topic was the identification of a novel nuclear localization signal of a human RNA-Helicase, which can be characterized in the field of biophysical chemistry. Afterward, I continued with my master studies in Bonn. Since I wanted to expand my chemical horizon, I performed a three-month research internship at York University in Toronto. In the workgroup of Prof. Thomas Baumgartner, I did research on a dithienophosphole system. For my master thesis, I joined the workgroup of Connie Lu and I am very motivated to get a more profound knowledge of bimetallic catalysts.

Besides doing chemistry, you will probably see me playing handball, in the gym, or meeting friends.
