Traditionally, the last date of the summer semester of the lecture series of the GDCh local section in Bonn is dedicated to young scientists. Four lectures by doctoral students gave an insight into the multifaceted chemistry of the chemical institutes in Bonn. Stefan Flesch presented the results of his investigations into iron(V) complexes using ultra-fast infrared spectroscopy. Hagen Neugebauer gave insight into the quantum chemical modeling of homogeneous catalysis with metals of the 3d series. Solid state chemistry was represented by Lea Aymans with a lecture on monophosphate tungsten bronzes and the series of lectures was completed by Houchao Xu with a topic from biochemistry on sodorifen biosynthesis.
There was also a traditional opportunity for further discussions over grilled sausages and cold drinks.
