BIGS-Events

Hier sind die Ankündigungen für die BIGS und die Kollektion abgelegt.

10.04.2025 von 13:00 bis 14:00 Kekulé-Institut für Organische Chemie und Biochemie,

Dr. Nico Fleck, Merck Electronics Darmstadt: From academia to industrial research: high-throughput chemistry as a tool to develop catalytic processes The transition from academia to industry presents both opportunities and challenges for chemists. This talk explores key aspects of entering the chemical industry, including strategies for navigating the application process, understanding the skills most valued by employers, and recognizing the differences between academic research and industrial R&D. The second part of the talk focuses on high-throughput chemistry, a cutting-edge approach that is revolutionizing industrial research and development. High-throughput chemistry leverages automation, data-rich experimentation, and advanced analytical techniques to enhance the efficiency of chemical screenings and synthesis.

16.09.2025 09:00 bis 17.09.2025 19:00 Clausius Institute,

BIGS Chemistry Summer School 2025 for all doctoral students of the BIGS Chemistry Guest speakers: Prof. Dr. Serena DeBeer, Prof. Dr. Jordi Burés

10.06.2025 von 13:00 bis 14:30 Kekulé-Institut für Organische Chemie und Biochemie,

Dr. Dirk Oligschläger, BVK-Patent, Cologne Patent Attorney: Dusty Files or a True Career Perspective – An Insight for Students and PhDs In this talk, I’ll share personal insights about the role of a patent attorney, tailored especially for chemistry students and PhDs who may be interested about moving beyond the lab. I’ll explain how patent attorneys work at the intersection of science and law, helping inventors and companies to secure and defend their ideas. We’ll cover the basics of patent, trademark, and design law, as well as the differences between the German and European qualification paths. We’ll also take a look at the key skills required and the kinds of workplaces you might find yourself in – from small patent law firms to large companies. The bottom line: it’s a challenging but rewarding career that makes good use of your scientific background while offering a fresh and intellectually stimulating perspective.
